Exactly how does this happen?
We guide you through a series of steps which help us “brand” you, finding out who you are and what you want – even if you think you don’t know. Here are the basics:
1 A Little Brainstorming
Think about what makes you unique, what you're looking for, what you’re trying to avoid, etc. Free associate to make a few lists of “starter words” – words that describe your physicality, personality and lifestyle.
2 The Phone Interview
We’ll spend about 45 minutes asking you a series of leading questions about who you are with respect to relationships, and who you want your partner to be.
3 The Profile Set Up
We set up a profile on match.com for you (you need not join at this point), with a descriptive “handle” and password. You then go online and answer the multiple choice answers; if thoughts occur to you as you pass the narrative portions, make quick notes. Next, we write the narrative sections (based on your starter words, our phone interview and your notes), and review your multiple choice answers (to determine whether you may be under- or over-selling, sometimes to suggest widening or narrowing of parameters). You review, make comments. We revise (twice if needed).
4 The Photo
Post a photo (smiling, full-face, screen filling; black and white ideal). If you choose to use our photographer (obviously, we highly recommend this, as it guarantees the photo will say a thousand words – the right words), she will shoot, post the winners on a web gallery for your selection, and can even plug your choice(s) right into your profile.
5 Go Live
Publish profile, when you must pay match.com (we suggest a 6-month membership).
6 Followup (optional)
If you like, we can follow your dating progress, making suggestions re: potential matches and communication as it happens. For as short or long a time as you want.
